Pumpkins and papers

Today Erin and Jerry came over and carved pumpkins with me!  Yesterday I carved even more pumpkins with Candace and Geoff, so thus far we are at 10/12 pumpkins carved (the photo above is an old one, though, new photos are coming).  I have been meaning to blog about some cool papers I saw in Nature, so just as a teaser:  maternal diet can affect child likelihood of developing asthma, so eat your veggies (as if you needed another reason); intestinal symbiotic microflora may be required for normal immune system development, and a mechanism by which some Bacteroides instruct the human immune system has been described (so wash your hands, but don’t use antibacterial everything, like I’ve been saying).
